2018 Writing Goals

Last year, I learned a lot about the writing process. I made some choices that didn't work out and made some crazy estimates. Then the year ended with some major life changes that required me to put my writing on hold. Now I'm back wiser (I hope) and energized. 2018 Goals As the title says this post is about my writing goals for 2018. Here they are:

Destiny Taken: Publish Fall 2018. When I began 2017 I had no idea what it took for a new writer to publish a book. I naively believed that books come out of your head onto paper with little in the need of rewriting, editing or reviewing. If I want a polished piece of work, which I do, it will require I put in a lot of time. That is especially true for my first book. For that reason I expect to self publish Destiny Taken by late 2018.

Destiny Earned (Book 2): Published Spring/Summer 2019.

Tammy Grace Series: Publish new chapters monthly. I am going to continue posting chapters but not as frequently. I'm not sure where I got the idea that writing a new trilogy, while growing my author platform and adding on a weekly Wattpad series was possible. I like Tammy Grace so I'm going to keep writing her stories. But, I'm giving myself more time to edit and publish.

Blog posts: This is the only item keeping it's publication timetable. Since it serves as both my journey journal and my accountability space; I will continue posting weekly on Sunday. Here is where you will be able to watch my journey to becoming a published author and get a glimpse into my life.

Don't forget, I also post on Instagram and Twitter. Feel free to follow me on one of those platforms as well. Slice of Life What was that major life event? Towards the end of last year I got a new job that required me to move almost 200 miles in less than 30 days. I love my new job and my new city so it was a good move. Just very rushed and hectic. At the time I realized I wouldn't be able to get everything done. So, I decided to put everything else in my life on hold to ensure I made the move. That meant I had to forgoe my NaNoWriMo goals, pause my media posts and buckle down. Finding an apartment in days and packing a whole apartment and moving was incredibly difficult. Mistakes happened, I went without a bed for a month. I got very sick for Christmas and New Years. It was a mess. But, I MADE IT!

Here is a little glimpse of my desk. I just like the picture.

Bit of behind the curtain: If you are one of my new writing buddies; know that even though I posted large goals they are all backed my smaller bimonthly process goals to keep me on track. That is one of the lessons I learned last year. A goal is nice but, when it is not broken down into smaller short-term goals I'm less successful in accomplishing them. This year each goal is broken down into its components and placed into bimonthly goals. Well that's all for this entry. Have a wonderful week and I look forward to catching up with you next week. Until then keep your smile bright and your wicked ways naughty.
